Centering Prayer
Contemplative Carmelite Prayer that was commenced by Saint John of the Cross (San Juan de la Cruz), in 1582 and practiced by Carmelite Priests for over 425 years. This form of prayer involves placing oneself obediently, openly and silently before God's love for about 20 minutes each day. This advanced contemplation and prayer is also typically used by cloistered monks.
Note: Centering Prayer is certainly not to be confused with a New Age "Centering" (a distortion commandeering the same name), that centers around oneself.
